After the first successful release on his new record label RΞBOOTΞD, ‘Love Like This (Beautiful Needs)‘ a wonderful project by Obsidian Radio and Trance vocal icon Jan Johnston, Scott Bond returns with a collaboration of his own. This time, the Gatecrasher legend has teamed up with Marc Mitchell to create ‘Airfoil’. This striking, powerful, edgy Trance sound, like an airfoil-shaped wing, will take you to the highest heights courtesy of the chosen ones, brave enough to accept the challenge of remixing this quality track.
Standerwick takes the plunge first. This man needs no introduction, as he has had countless successful productions and remixes in his career. His remix has already been supported by eminent DJs from the Trance elite such as Armin van Buuren on ASOT episode 674 and Aly & Fila on FSOE episode 356, so you can expect to hear this on dance-floors and clubs for weeks to come. Loyal to his strong, uplifting style, his remix is dominated by the ethereal, melodic and very emotional breakdown that makes this tune so unique and catchy. This is a tune that will definitely seduce both your mind and your heart. – Rating: 8.5/10
Mr. Bond and his partner in crime Charlie Walker are behind the RΞBOOTΞD Remix. The legends have chosen a quite raw, underground approach with an interesting element of surprise which proves their production skills. The uplifting, driving sound with delicately combined guitar riffs and piano elements will captivate every true Trance lover. An edgy composition that stands out, the RΞBOOTΞD remix will set you on fire and get instantly stuck in your head. – Rating: 8/10
Brett Wood under the alias of ‘Splattered Implant feat. Crystal Blakk‘ takes things to the higher level with his Psy-Trance touch. His unusual, diverse psy sound makes this remix very authentic, underground and barely recognizable (compared to the other remixes). A dark, progressive start and driving bass lines holds your attention for the track’s opening. But in a surprising change of direction, he gives the track an ‘old skool’ twist, with a mystical and hypnotic vocal section that is a real blast from the past. It is reminiscent of back when the Acid Trance was born, and is coloured and shaped by eclectic, spacey, cosmic elements. If you want to experience the unknown, this is the track for you! – Rating: 7.5/10
From Finland comes none other than Simon Templar, well known from the Finnish Trance duo Winkee. Simon brings more sophisticated, melancholic, progressive elements to his remix. This has a very emotional, relaxing and deep sound which will captivate the hearts of every Pure Trance admirer. A refined and bewitching melody is synonymous for his recognisable and classy style and devotion to the authentic nature of Trance music. Truly an euphonious and smooth melody that will not leave you indifferent for sure. – Rating: 9/10
Stephane Badey‘s classic Trance breakdown is about to blow you away. The Frenchman has proved how skilful and brilliant his remixes are, with remixes of Fleming & Lawrence’s ‘Beyond the Limit’, Memory Splice’s ‘Vermillion’, and Christopher Lawrence’s ‘Libra’ to name but a few. This time, he has hit the same heights again. The infectious rolling baseline with brilliant tech leads will immediately burst out energetically from your speakers and maintain the thrill. Teasing with the shades of classic sound and twisting melody, this tune will seduce you without even noticing. – Rating: 8.5/10
The artists were set quite a challenge being asked to remix this beauty, but the really tough task is for the listeners to choose which one of the high quality remixes is their favourite. Good luck with that!
Airfoil was released to purchase today (15th September) via Beatport and will be available on general release from 29th September 2014.
